…during a solar eclipse, more than you might think!
To celebrate Solar Eclipse Day 2024, we’d like to pass this message along: Entrepreneurs, be inspired by the Moon — because you are like the Moon!
On Earth, our solar eclipses are a bit of a miracle: the Moon, even though it is much smaller than the Sun, is much closer to Earth; indeed, it is the perfect distance to just blot out our vision of the Sun. As the publication EarthSky explains:
“During totality of a solar eclipse, the silhouette of the moon leaves a gaping “black hole” in the sky, surrounded by the ghostly glow of the sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona. This fortuitous circumstance happens because although the moon’s diameter is about 400 times smaller than the sun’s, it also is about 400 times closer. That makes the sun and moon to appear roughly the same size in the sky, about a half-degree.”
We contend, in your business, in your market, you strive to be like the Moon. Yes, you may be much smaller than the big gaudy stars, but you are so much closer to your customers and clients! You work to know and adapt to their needs better, you work to provide more personal service, you work to build deeper relationships. And the result is that you compete evenly, and on a regular basis, you can even eclipse the bigger contenders.
So when you look up at the Sun (safely!), take your inspiration from the Moon,
